Frequently asked questions.
Do you offer a free trial class?
Yes! Every child is welcome to try a session free of charge. It’s the best way to experience the atmosphere, meet Danielle, and see how your child responds.
How are children grouped by age or level?
Children are grouped in mixed-age cohorts (3–6 and 6–9 years) to mirror the Montessori model. This encourages cooperation, mentorship, and learning at an individualized pace. Activities are thoughtfully adapted for all developmental stages.
What level of English does my child need to join?
None at all! The Speak Spot is designed for complete beginners as well as children with some exposure to English. The immersive and playful environment helps children feel comfortable and naturally begin to understand and use the language—at their own pace.
Will my child be confused or overwhelmed by only hearing English?
It’s normal to feel unsure at first—but children adapt quickly, especially when they feel safe, engaged, and free to explore. Because learning happens through movement, play, and creativity, children often begin understanding much sooner than you'd expect!
Is a parent required to stay during the session?
Nope! Parents are encouraged to drop off their children and return at pick-up time. In fact, many parents enjoy using the time for themselves, knowing their child is happily immersed in a nurturing and engaging space.
What happens if my child is shy or nervous?
That’s totally okay—and very common! Sessions are designed to be warm, welcoming, and pressure-free. Children are never forced to participate and are always gently encouraged. Most children find their comfort and voice within just a few sessions.
What is the cancellation or makeup policy?
If your child is absent, we’ll do our best to offer a makeup session depending on availability and notice. While missed sessions cannot be refunded, flexibility is always the goal where possible.
What should my child bring?
Just a water bottle and comfy clothes they can move and create in! Everything else is provided, from materials to snacks (if included). If there’s anything special happening—like a cooking activity—you’ll be notified in advance.

How is learning measured without grades?
At The Speak Spot, we observe instead of test. Progress shows up in communication, confidence, and joy. There are no worksheets, no pressure—just meaningful, experiential learning that supports each child in their own way.
Do you speak French during the sessions?
The sessions are conducted entirely in English to support full immersion. However, if a child is distressed or needs help understanding something essential, Danielle will always respond with care and clarity—first in English, and gently in French if truly necessary.
